Well, we got some promising news over the weekend.  I got an email from the manufacturer advising that the mammoths should be ready to ship from China on Dec 17. They will be shipped on an ocean liner so it is estimated that they will hit customs around mid-January.  I am guessing that is the Pacific ocean and thus they would arrive in Canada on the west coast, so they still need to travel across country. So I would expect to have them in late January.

The mammoths will arrive from the manufacturer in large boxes holding a few hundred in each box.  Once I receive the boxes I will start the big job of boxing them up for each of the backers and shipping them out. I believe Backerkit gives me the ability to enter tracking numbers, so you should have a good idea of when yours got shipped and when you will receive it.  Keep in mind, this process may take a few weeks and I might schedule a packing party or something to make the work go quicker and let the community share in the experience. I'll figure that out once I have them in-hand.

I will most likely ship them out from the largest order to the smallest, so unless you ordered a large quantity the quickest way to get your mammoth is to pickup at a local usergroup. If you wish, you can change your shipping method or update your shipping address using your email address at:

The Waiting Game

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the lack of updates.  It's just there hasn't been much to report.  As you probably know TrueNorth PHP has come and gone and was a huge success, but was without mammoths.

I did receive an email from Open Goodies advising that the production cycle began at the beginning of November and this is typically a 12 week process.  I also got an email advising that safety has passed, which I assume is a good thing.  I don't know how long shipping takes from China to Canada, but I'm going to guess around 3 weeks.  After that, it may take me a few weeks to pack up everyone's mammoth and ship them out.  Those who elected to pick them up at a user group will probably get theirs first.  So, it is kind of looking like they will be in your hands by February or March 2016.

So once again, thank you so much for your patience and support.  I will post an update if anything changes.

Still waiting

Hi Everyone,

Well, the TrueNorth PHP conference is about 2 weeks away and sadly it seems we will not have the Woolly Mammoths in time to give them out to the conference attendees or to backers who are coming to the conference.  We will however be offering some option for attendees to receive their mammoth at a later date.

As for when they will get shipped out to Kickstarter backers I unfortunately do not have an answer to that question yet.  Communication from the company that is creating them has not been very frequent so I don't have a clear picture of when I will have them.  I just found out that production has not started, news which I am not super thrilled about.  They are getting produced in China and with production + shipping times it probably means that we might not even have them by the end of the year.

I do feel quite badly as I know you are all excited to receive your Woolly Mammoth(s), but rest assured I will keep following up and searching for ways to get them in your hands sooner.

I just got home from my son's baseball game to see that the PHP Woolly Mammoth has been successfully funded and has gone over by $2000, which means I will have enough money to put the offical php logo on the side opposite the TrueNorth PHP logo.

I'm very happy obviously but mostly very touched that you all supported us and made this happen.

Second Prototype Pictures

Hi Everyone,

I got a nice surprise in my email this morning ... photos of the new prototype.

This prototype features smaller ears, since Mammoths have much smaller ears than Elephants. Also, the logo is changed a little bit. I think I need to change the trueNorth stitching back to white as the black is not very visible. But other than that this is basically what the final product will look like.

As mentioned in the FAQ's, if we go over our funding goal by $1500 or more, I am going to request the standard php logo on the left side and switch the trueNorth PHP logo to the other side.
