Hey Backers,
We are getting close to being funded thanks to you and the planning process is moving further along.
Yesterday I got some photos of the first prototype from the fantastique folks at Open Goodies. I think it looks really good but I asked them to make a few changes, most notably the ears are much too big for a mammoth. So, they will be modifying the prototype and hopefully I will get some new pictures.
Here are some of the pics of the first prototype:

Thanks again for helping us, and of course if you know someone else who might be willing to back us and get this one of a kind collectible, please send them our way.
Peter

When Chris, Vic and I started this Kickstarter, we really had no idea what to expect. None of us had ever done one before. We got some advice, figured out some pricing and away we went. We were also quite inspired by the handful of previous elePHPant Kickstarters and I want to especially thank Rafael Dohms and Amsterdam PHP for offering advice and helping us promote. Their project was successfully funded and they just got their shipment of black elePHPants and I am really looking forward to getting mine.
We are overwhelmed by the number of backers who have supported us and shared the project on Twitter, Facebook, email, etc. The PHP community are truly incredible and inspirational.
I just want to say thank you to those who have supported us thus far and to give a quick update on where we are at.
At this stage we have ordered a prototype to be made. I'm not sure how long that process takes, but I am guessing it is a few weeks at least. The final product will be produced in China. I am not sure if the prototype comes from there as well. I guess we will find out.
I have started thinking about shipping these Mammoths to the hundreds of backers. I think that is going to be quite a lengthy and difficult process, so I will try to figure out if there is a way to make that easier. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them. I am going to reach out to the manufacturer to see if they can offer the option to drop-ship to the final destination instead of shipping the whole lot to me, then I reship them. The latter just seems like a waste of time and money, but we will see.
That's where we are at now. We are off to a great start, but there is still a long way to go with this project, and we will need a lot more help to make this a reality, so please continue to share the project to your network, ask me any questions and give me any feedback.
